Man's fallen condition

Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all  our righteous acts are like filthy rags   Isaiah 1:6 From the soul of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness – only wounds and bruises and open sores   Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?   Romans 3:10 There is no-one righteous  – not even one   Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God   Romans 3:19-20 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin   Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.   James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point, is guilty of breaking all of it   James 4:17 Anyone then, who knows the good he ought to do, and doesn't do it, sins   1 John  1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and  the truth is not in us   1 John 1:10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives

Man is condemned because of sin

Ezekiel 18:20 "The soul who sins is the one who will die"   Dan 12: 2 And many of them who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt   John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son   John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him   John 8:24 "I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will die in your sins   Acts 17:31     For He has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead   Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord   2 Thessalonians  1:8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power   Hebrews 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that, to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people   Hebrews 10:30 "The Lord will judge his people" It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of a living God   2 Peter 3:9 "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance   Revelation 20:11 – 15 "Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and mall, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire, the lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire"

Man is unable to help himself

Romans 3:20 Therefore no-one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law, we become conscious of sin   Galatians 2:15 We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners know that a man is not justified by observing the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law, no-one will be justified   Galatians 3:10 – 11 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law. Clearly no-one is justified before God by the law, because, "the righteous will live by faith"   Galatians 3:21 For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by law. But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe   Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace   Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you are saved, through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – not of works so that no-one can boast

God  so loved the World

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.   Romans 5:6 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us   1 Timothy 2:5 This is good and pleases God our Saviour who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.   Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men   1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us   1 John 4: 9-10 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins

Christ died for our sins

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all   Romans 4:25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification   Romans.5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die, But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us   1 Corinthians  15:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time.   2 Corinthians  5: 20– 21 We implore you on Christ's behalf: be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God   Galatians 4:4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law that we might receive the full rights of sons   1 Timothy 1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners   Titus 2:13 …while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good   Hebrews 2:14 "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil – and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death   1 Peter 2:25 He himself bore  our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed   1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God

He can give us righteousness and eternal life

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool   John 6:63 The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life   John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed   John 11:25 Jesus said to her "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die"   Romans 1:16-17 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith"   Romans 3:22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe   Romans 4:6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works.   Romans 4:24 ….but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness – for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead   2 Corinthians  5: 20– 21 We implore you on Christ's behalf: be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God   Galatians 3:6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness". Understand then , that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham…….. so those who have faith, are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.   1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Only in Christ is Salvation found

John 3: 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him"   John 14:6 Jesus answered "I am the way and the truth and the life. No- one comes to the Father except through me   Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved   1 Timothy  2:5 This is good and pleases God our Saviour who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men 1 Peter 1:18-19   For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect

We must believe in Christ and trust Him for Salvation

John 6:40 "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day John 7:37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him John 11:25 Jesus said to her "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die"   John 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing, you may have life in his name"   Acts 2:21 Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved   Acts 16: 31 "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved"   Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord", and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.   1 John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched, this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us and with his Son, Jesus Christ
